| Comments: |
Iron Mountain Rd.is snowmo'd for a short way before the snowmobile route branches off to the south. The reminder of the road to the summer parking area is rutted from vehicular traffic and postholed by view seekers. A few more inches of snow should fix it up nicely.
No sign of any activity on the trail itself. Down low, there was a supportive crust. Near the summit, the crust was less supportive.
Wayfinding notes: At the summer parking area, a sign marked "trail" directs you into a large field. One must cross the field to the south tree line. Another trail sign can be found approximately in the middle of that tree line. The trail passes through a small stand of trees and quickly emerges into another smaller field. Look for a sapling banded with orange tape as you cross the field to the right. The trail is mostly self evident from that point to the summit. |
