Wore snowshoes all the way and glad to have them. Went up the East loop. No one had been on it since at least the last snow. Sometimes the crust held my weight, sometimes not, but East was the better part of the loop because it had not been beat up by bare boots. Not so smooth going down West, which is where everyone had gone up over the weekend, mostly without snowshoes. It was about knee deep on top and was getting sticky early with the mild temps. Also a lot of dripping and chunks falling off the trees near the summit. Down lower the branches are clear. Had the place to myself with cloudless views. |
