| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
If I was doing a trail crew list, I'd note the usual mud spots and stretches where water runs in the trail, and one major blowdown where these two trails meet, but they are mostly dry right now. This trail is generally wide and dry with a good footbed, way better than it was a few years ago and better than many of the 4Ks I've been on. Nice signs at trail jcts. Lots of split logs near the peak over mudholes. No broken spruce-fir anywhere. Old concrete tower supports on top are pretty ugly. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Easy dog trail. Not a lot of water after Sucker Brook but there's a couple seeps still running in the upper hardwoods section and maybe one off trail up in the spruce-fir. |
|
| Bugs: |
No problems. There was a pretty good breeze on the top which is the only place we stopped, but I didn't see any anywhere. |

Too nice a morning not to be on the trails, so I thought we'd do this peak and produce a trail conditions report expecting lots of issues. It turned out to be a very pleasant short hike on trails that are in good condition. Only 4 others met on the hike down. We could smell the smoke and see the haze of the Quebec fires. Views are limited. One oddity. There appears to be a snowmobile trail branching off from the hiking trail in the upper hardwoods. We followed it for about 400 yards and then quit. Pepper loved his swim in Sucker Brook. Great hike. |
