Parking/Access Road Notes: The pull off along Route 25A is plowed out with room for several cars.

Surface Conditions: Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow/Ice - Frozen Granular, Snow - Wet/Sticky, Mud - Significant, Snow - Spring Snow, Leaves - Significant/Slippery
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Not sure if this is normal for this route, but I counted *26* water crossings on the way up,most of them minor. That's a record in my book. The largest, Bracket Brook, was a little high and took some care. I went downstream a few yards where it was a bit easier, but waterproof boots are definitely needed now.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Lots of debris and snapped branches littering the Mt. Cube Trail, especially higher up. Near the junction with the ridge and side trail, there are several blowdowns right in a row that require stepping around.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Probably would have been ok for dogs, but didn't see any. They would have had plenty of water options!
Bugs
Bugs: Nope.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing and nothing.

Comments
Comments: Mt. Cube (North & South Peaks)
Was gonna hike this one with a friend, but illness stepped in, so I went ahead solo. This was my second time up Cube in winter, and also this year. I wasn't wild about this route, it's kind of uninteresting with no views or unique features. Trail conditions were all over the map: packed snow, soft snow, mud, running water, standing water, leaves, patches of ice. I mostly followed the remains of a snowshoe track all the way. Also noted moose and bear tracks on the trail. Up on the ridge, I went over to North Peak first, where I was pleasantly surprised to find a lot of bare quartzite ledge. I had worn spikes up, but took them off on the summits. After spending some time here, I made the quick trip over to South Peak where I met a group of five who had come up the Cross-Rivendell Trail. The partly sunny forecast never materialized and skies remained overcast, but still a nice day to be up on one of my favorite smaller peaks.
