Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: It was a tough decision but I decided to have Marlie sit this one out as temps and wind looked borderline for her tollerance. Turns out, while cold the wind was not an issue and she probably would have been OK. I saw one other dog on the way to Carter Dome who seemed to be doing OK although his feet seemed cold after a couple minutes chatting with its owner.

Comments
Comments: The trails are packed from snowshoes but that will likely change over the next couple of days. Lots of drifts on the Carter Dome Tr within the last mile to the summit. Awkward sidehilling and loose powder made footing a little tricky. Over 4 feet of snow on the ground approaching the Dome with another 4 feet of drifting along side the trail. We had smoothed the drifts out pretty good until a few barebooters came up behind us sinking up to their thighs. Looked like a good time. C-M loop over Mt Hight was unbroken on our way up but looked to be tracked out on our way back. No recent traffic on Rainbow Tr. C-M down to Carter Notch was tracked out. From Zeta Pass north to North Carter Tr it is very well packed by snowshoes. C-M to North Carter had an old track present. The same for Imp Tr to the north. Thanks Matt for getting me the motivation to finally check off S & M for winter. Now I just need to Presi days...
