Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Carriage Road winter parking is posted no parking due to state logging (no sign of any recent logging activity though). As a result, the plowed turnaround parking at the end of Belknap Mountain Road for the Piper-Whiteface Trail is even more attractive.

Comments
Comments: Thank you to Steve and Beth for breaking out the Piper-Whiteface Trail up to the stonewall! Whiteface is not completely broken out, but I suspect their trail breaking plus snowmobile traffic should make it attainable. Snowshoes a must at this point, as even with our tracks round trip, the footbed was still soft.

From the stonewall, I broke up to the ridge and to the summit, generally in three to ten inches of new powder (usually around 6-8 inches) with base depths probably around two feet. No sign of any recent traffic from the north. My tracks should set up okay in the sunny ledgy areas.
I also meandered around the southern ledges on the Yellow Trail, which is particularly hard to follow. Looks like a snowmobile was up there recently. Lots of nice ledge views though, even if not on trail.
