Wore snowshoes the whole way. There were remains of a trench, but it was covered with a few inches to a foot of unpacked powder, partly from drifting. The section of trail after the second ledge viewpoint may be hard to follow due to drifting snow covering the trench, but if you look carefully for a corridor, you'll be fine. Didn't see anyone the whole time, which was kind of peaceful.
This was the first time since February 2012 that I hiked Parker Mountain, and I'm kicking myself for taking this long to go back. While the summit is kind of meh (except for the massive cairn), the pre-summit viewpoints are good (and would be excellent places to view a sunrise), the steep section is a good physical challenge and would make for nice glissading, and the ridge walking was nice. |
