Comments
Comments: i headed up the road towards barn door gap which had some old snowshoe tracks along it to start. partway up the tracks turned off onto another road/trail and i continued on the main road. the snow in sunny areas is starting to consolidate and was a bit wet/heavy at times. where the road makes a prominent turn i bushwhacked straight up towards the highpoint on sanders ledge finding some deeper and unconsolidated snow punching in 1-2 feet in spots. woods were very open. the highpoint was in a large clear ledgy area with some views towards blue job and mack. i then turned south and headed down to the ledges itself which was wide open and quite impressive with views extending around from blue job to the east to catamount and kearsarge to the west. great looks to parker nearby, the larger peaks in pawtuckaway as well as the nottingham/fort area. i dropped off back towards my tracks and hopped back on the road turning off on at an unknown road marked by a "no wheeled vehicles" sign. i followed that road/trail for a short distance before bushwhacking straight up to mack where i found another old snowshoe track coming from points unknown. a few steep pitches with fairly consolidated snow on the sunny slope. woods were mostly open. more great views especially to barn door gap. a short distance to the north are some more views to kearsarge and even a filtered look up towards cardigan. i dropped off fairly direct back to the extension of second crown point road with great snowshoeing all the way.

i decided to take the very nice day to check out some nearby view peaks. i had visited mack, but never on such a nice day and had never been to sanders ledge. both were fantastic today with awesome snowshoeing in between. cool to check out the old road between crown point and barn door gap. one of a number of local roads that no longer "run through" as shown on some maps. great day to be out.
