| Comments: |
Some sections of this route up Cardigan are perpetually muddy/wet even during a dry spell -- after the recent several days of rain, these sections were even wetter and muddier than usual. In addition, most of the sections of trail over granite above PJ Ledge (first major viewpoint of Firescrew) and prior to the Warden's Cabin (0.5 miles from summit) were wet and a bit slippery. These should dry out in a day or two, though, with the warm weather forecast. From Warden's Cabin to the summit was bone dry. It appears that the white blazes to the summit have been refreshed recently (thank you, whoever did this). Great day up top -- enough breeze to break the heat -- and only a couple of other folks on a summit that can sometimes get crowded at this time of year. |
