Mt. Moosilauke - Ravine Lodge Road, Gorge Brook Trail - 4-7-2015

Hiking Trail Conditions Report
	Peaks	Mt. Moosilauke, NH

	Trails:	Ravine Lodge Road, Gorge Brook Trail

	Date of Hike:	Tuesday, April 7, 2015

	Parking/Access Road Notes:	Lower part of road completely plowed out. There was a big dozer and a pickup with a massive plow opening up the road. When I came back they had plowed both in front and behind the lodge. This morning the road was a sheet of ice where they plowed. This afternoon it had softened up a lot. The gate was locked again when they were done but makes for easy walking.

	Surface Conditions:	Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow - Wet/Sticky

	Recommended Equipment:	Snowshoes, Light Traction

	Water Crossing Notes:	All in good condition but the bridges do have a 1 snowshoe wide monorail.

	Trail Maintenance Notes:	3 blowdowns that need to be removed

	Dog-Related Notes:	no dogs today but they would have had no trouble.

	Bugs:	just those little flee like bugs in the snow

	Lost and Found:


	Comments:	I started up the road in a cloud. Coming up 93 the sky had blue patches so I had high hopes. Before I got to tree line the sun came out and it was brilliant above tree line. Lots of clouds below the summit. There was about 2 inches of snow on the trail starting out and up to 3" or 4" higher up. By the time I came down the snow was melting and was melting off the trees like rain. I used my snowshoes all the way except where the road was plowed.
