Still plenty of snow, especially in the woods. Most of the ice was on the Piper climb. Trail (the loop) was hard packed in the AM but started to soften in PM, especially in the open. Snowshoes went for a ride. Be careful to stay on the trail and avoid existing post holes. Only saw 2 folks; a young man skateboarding the ledges on Piper(!) and a snowboarder on Gunstock's summit. Nice loop. 3 hours, 2,000' verticle, 5 miles. |
