Several easy step overs and two duck unders up high where the snow is four feet deep, causing us to have many face scratchers on the upper half of the trail. Snow is softening - go soon! |

| Comments: |
Moderate temperatures and brilliant sunshine allowed us to bask on the summit for an hour. Spectacular blue sky day. Views forever. Was that Katahdin? The ocean? Terrific views of the Presidentials. Three hikers tried Kandersteg to go up Shelburne Moriah but it wasn't tracked so they changed plans and came up Stoney Brook to Moriah. Tubbs Flex gave us excellent traction the whole way as long as we stayed on the trail but post-holing is possible even in snowshoes off the trail. Saw one hiker with spikes doing okay but she had snowshoes on later as the snow softened in the afternoon.
