| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Breezy Point Rd. is a bit rough, but passable with care. Enough room for a 1/2 dozen or so cars at the end. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Wet Trail, Snow - Packed Powder/Loose Granular, Wet/Slippery Rock, Ice - Breakable Crust, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Snow - Wet/Sticky, Mud - Significant, Snow - Spring Snow, Leaves - Significant/Slippery, Snow/Ice - Postholes, Slush, Snow/Ice - Small Patches |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Light Traction |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
All the major ones have bridges over them. There are a few minor ones that formed from the spring melt. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
The lower part of the trail is in rough shape- there was a lot of debris and blowdowns, and parts of it could really use some irrigation. Up higher, the trail was in better shape (or the deep snow was covering all the debris). |

| Comments: |
Spring and winter are duking it out on the Moose! Down low, there was little to no snow (but a lot of mud). The middle part had a thin cover of slushy snow. Up on the ridge crest, there was still 3-4 feet of snow (except for above treeline), as well as a few inches of fresh powder. Barebooted the whole way, but light traction may be helpful to some above 2,500-3,000'. Socked in on the top with no views, but I'm glad I had one last winter hurrah! |
