Comments
Comments: Up Welch then Dickey and on a whim took the herd path to Green & back. Welch-Dickey loop is in great shape. Drought has dried up most of the usual spring ledge seeps.

The spur trail to the Dickey north overlook is still a maze of ledges with few carins. Found the hard path without much trouble (though see my notes, above). It's very well defined for the most part and marked with cairns and rock leaders (some of them quite old). There are three tricky spots--1) at the beginning of the path where it leaves the last obvious ledge on Dickey just below the north overlook spur trail the herd path descends into the woods and makes a sharp left to a damp col. 2) Just beyond the col there is a blowdown snag of a few trees at a sharp right turn. The turn can be missed and the trees must be climbed over. From there it follows a series of obvious ledges along the ridge. 3) where the trail enters a wide east facing ledge with a big campfire ring and a rock basin bog. Trail bears left along N. edge of bog to ledges to W above bog. Rest of way is obvious all the way to Green with great views along open ledge to Foss, from there in the trees to Green, but there is a nice directional view of Tecumseh from the summit of Green. Supposedly there is a summit register, but I did not find it.
