we carspotted a car at Marlboro Trail parking lot--not accessible for low lying vehicles
Pitcher Mtn parking lot no issue except that somebody 'had fun' with car and collapsed side-view mirror and pulled windshield wipers out (the way you do in a snowstorm)--found it like that when we returned at end of day |

Greenway (from Pitcher Mtn parking lot in Stoddard, ascend via Dublin/Greenway; descend via Marlboro)
Greenway is definitely easier from Pitcher Mtn southbound with many dirt roads being walked, even in the woods; also, the trail no longer continuously goes up and down; that makes it less of a hiking feeling though and more of a 'meandering through the woods'; highlights today were Nelson Town Center with a beautiful library with exposed beams; the Eliza Adams gorge; some artwork along the trail; and the views from Mt Monadnock; getting there in the late afternoon meant no more real crowds on the summit; plus the wind kept many people from staying for a longer time on the exposed summit; had not ascended via Dublin Trail before (which is the Greenway)--definitely my favorite trail: less crowded and nicer terrain than White Dot,...; descended via Marlboro Trail--steeper but a little shorter and nice to take a different trail back down; total distance approx. 24mi; great way to spend a Saturday with excellent conversation all along the way--thanks 'Chick' ;) for your company! Southbound hiking of the entire greenway complete... now it's time to head back to the White Mountains. |
