Trails
Trails: Old Mast Road, Lawrence Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, June 27, 2015
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I started the line on the exit side of Ferncroft @ 8:45 this morning. Route 113A is now nicely paved - at least from the 16 side.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: No issues.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One small blowdown high up on the Lawrence is worth mentioning as you could poke or scratch yourself if you don't lift your legs high enough.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: One had to be restrained by its owner shortly after I started the hike. I saw another one on the Lawrence Trail. Seems to be plenty of water on the Lawrence Trail.
Bugs
Bugs: With no breeze they were active and annoying at the ledges.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: I left my booty sock/water filter behind when I was getting a water fill at one of the water sources about half-way along the Lawrence trail. I apologize for leaving a trace. Hopefully someone will be kind enough to pick it up and throw it out.

Comments
Comments: I did NOT go to the actual summit - just to the ledges below. Though the Ferncroft lot was getting pretty full @ 9:00 I only saw five other folks on these trails today. Trails are in good shape and if you are so inclined you can make good time on them.

I spent about an hour in complete solitude on the ledges soaking in the sun and the views - a nice way to spend lunch I'd say.
