Comments
Comments: Garfield as usual had great views and the trail is ok the whole way. Congrats to the brother and sister (he 5, she 7?) getting their first 4K. Water on the Garfield Ridge Tr. down to the end of the steep descent was running well. Easy to avoid going down. Quite a bit of mud on the trail but mostly avoidable. GRT up to hut was fine. Frost Tr. had quite a bit of mud and some was significant. Could use some rocks or bog bridges. Trail widening occurring because of it. Gale River Tr. below the junction w/ Garfied Ridge started off fine with usual rock hopping. As the trial starts to flatten (reroute) it gets very muddy. Some is minor but much of it is significant. There is lots of it! Could certainly use some logs or rocks. Widening is getting bad in spots. One large blowdown (looks fairly recent) and a path around it. Good day out anyway, though I had forgotten how tough Garfield Ridge is. Kudos to those that do Pemi Loops through that.
Thanks to Karen who did the bike ride to the car!
