Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Hiker parking is now before the fork on Ravine Lodge Road (just before the lodge), which is new to me since my last visit in May. Beyond the fork is reserved for lodge guests. There are signs here stating this. Has this always been the case? I've always parked down near the turnaround.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None of any significance, most are on footbridges.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: All trails in great shape, no issues. BBT was wet and slick, I took a tumble on some slippery moss. (NOTE: If anyone is going up to Mt. Blue, the herd path is very clear, but has been closed in with a few logs. The small cairn at the junction has also been knocked over. We didn't go up, but recent trips say that the jar is gone.)
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Some dogs might have trouble on a few of the BBT scrambles and wooden steps.
Bugs
Bugs: None.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing.

Comments
Comments: After dropping a car at the lodge, we drove over to Kinsman Notch to climb up BBT to do a traverse. This was my first time on BBT and it was a lot of steep fun and very lovely next to the cascades! We saw lots of through hikers coming down.

We took a break at the shelter, then headed up to the ridge. From there we did an out and back along the RT to Mt. Jim, a most unimpressive "peak", for the Trailwrights list.

Then we doubled back and continued up BBT to the BT junction, and into the summit. Breaking out onto that alpine zone is always amazing, and we were looking forward to some chill time at the summit. Unfortunately, we arrived to a summit full of about 50 very loud Dartmouth students who were drinking. They were accompanied by what looked like chaperones, so apparently Dartmouth is ok with kids drinking on the mountain. :(

So, we cruised right by and headed down GBT. We stopped once in the trees for a food break, when the parade of kids passed by. We let them get ahead and then we made our way down the easy grades back to lodge, where there was a loud party happening. We could hear the music a mile up the trail.

Aside from all that, it was a great day on The Moose. We also took note of some abandoned trails and herd paths for future exploration.
