Comments
Comments: trails were mostly dry with some damp areas. nice dry ledge up high on straightback. upper junction of precipice east loop is not too clear. if looking for it look left shortly west of the quarry trail junction for a large erratic with a cairn on top. you will pick up red blazes from there. the bottom end of precipice trail is reached via a yellow blazed spur about 75 yards up anna-goat trail from the old stage road. a small cairn now marks that junction. i followed the range trail west from straightback keeping an eye out to the north for an unofficial yellow blazed trail i assumed connected over from west quarry i heard talked about recently. as expected it connected just before a beaver swamp at the range trails closest point to west quarry. this was followed with ease for roughly .3 or so to the summit of west quarry. some great rock scrambles in the final climb. a great route for setting up some different loop options in the range. i doubled back and continued on the range trail to anna then down the mt. anna-goat pasture trail to the stage road and back to parking.
