Bugs
Bugs: incredibly AWFUL!!!! I must have been at the wrong elevation all day. The bugs were the in-your-eyes type you keep swatting and killing but nothing helps!!!! Deet helped the mosquitoes, however.

Comments: I went up Chippewa, over the summit and down Black Mtn Trail to that trailhead and then back up and over and down. Views were limited due to cloud cover. Had a half hour on the summit to watch the raptors circling above and a small bird taking a birdbath in a puddle - VERY COOL!!!

Also, was hoping to see more evidence of the firetower. Even the cement footings were gone. There were drillholes in the rock where the footings were, along with other assorted sawed-off iron and one intact eyebolt.

Black Mtn Trail (the tractor road) is a nice woods walk that crosses an ATV trail lower down. I was surprised there was no motor vehicle evidence (including ATVs) on the trail given the Black Mtn Trail side did not seem gated (but I didn't walk from the TH to Rte 112 either). It would be fun to take a jeep up that!!!

Not too many hikers on this nice little mountain today other than summer camp kids on the Chippewa side. A GREAT DAY!!!
