Comments
Comments: The views are incredible from this peak. 360 with peaks in all directions. The desolation route is long and the climb is steep but very few people take this route. Even in a prime hiking weekend there were only a few people all day. I would go up desolation and down signal ridge. You have to go all the way to the nancy pond trail. The cutoff to desolation from the notch trail prior to Nancy pond shown on some website's maps is either hard to see or doesn't exist any more. Nancy pond trail is well marked and easily followed to desolation.

The leaves had not changed much at all yet.
