Hiking Trail Conditions Report
Peaks
Peaks Mt. Moosilauke, Mt. Moosilauke - South Peak, NH
Trails
Trails: Gorge Brook Trail, Carriage Road, South Peak Spur, Snapper Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Friday, October 2, 2015
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Lots at the Lodge on Ravine Lodge Rd. BUT people are parking every which direction rather than all pointing out. This will make it hard for people trying to get in and out give that it's a one lane road practically. Effort should be made to turn around and park facing out the road so, that you an just head out at the end of the day.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Water is high given recent rains but all water crossings are bridges. Those that are not bridged are easy to cross.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Someone at the DOC recently trimmed the upper Gorge Brook trail. It's much less grown in. All other trails are in great shape. But I did note a lot of erosion on Gorge Brook Below 3300 feet.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: This is an easy loop for Dogs. Lil' Nugget loves it. There were 2 other dogs out today.
Bugs
Bugs: Nope... Too cold. :)
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing much today.

Comments
Comments: Like visiting an old friend. My 8th visit to this peak and we made good time so a nice peaceful sit at South Summit was in order so I could eat my soup. :) This loop is a classic and one that should be enjoyed by all.
