Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Slippery Brook Road is in A1 condition and the FS was out with their grader and york rake touching it up. Plenty of parking at the gate--I was only car at end of road but there were a few parked at the Mountain Pond Trailhead.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: During my bushwhack of old Slippery Brook Trail required crossing Slippery Brook four times and it was an easy rock hop due to low water.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail in excellent condition, I believe someone has been out since Amicus' trip. Trail clear and easy to follow, the arrows on the woods road walk are on the ground leaning on trees and pointing the correct forest road to follow. Good trail but there are no blazes or signs on this south section of Slippery Brook. Eastman Mountain Trail is well blazed and clear.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: sure why not but water not to be found up high
Bugs
Bugs: none
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Hiking poles at trailhead. I took them with me figuring no one would want to drive 5 miles out there on that dirt road and I thought I knew who they might belong to but I was wrong. Email me if they're yours and I will get them back to you!

Comments
Comments: Since I didn't want to do the road walk twice I decided to bushwhack the old trail up along Slippery Brook. The first mile went well and old treadway not difficult to follow but the second mile proved difficult lots of moose-roads and high thick hobble bush. Brook was pretty and crossing it was easy.I passed the boulders that block the woods road but didn't head to trail but continued up the brook. When I could go no further I took a hard right up the steep bank and it the trail--great fun. Just before hitting the height of land I met a bull moose. On way back from Eastman Mountain at low point I bushwhacked straight across through mostly clear forest to intersection the Slippery Brook Trail and saved a lot of distance (plus it was fun). Grassy woods road is in good condition and easy to jog.
