Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Only two crossings of note and they were done easily.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The trail is in excellent condition. Kudos to the maintainers of this 9.8 mile loop trail. My only issue was that on the cliffs up South Baldface many of the blazes are faded and hard to follow. There is one very minor blowdown on the Bicknell Ridge trail not far above where it meets the Circle Trail.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: I didn't see any dogs but I'd think the cliffs up South Baldface would be difficult for a a dog. Leave the pooch at home for this one unless you take a trail that avoids the cliffs.
Bugs
Bugs: none.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: nothing lost, nothing found.

Comments
Comments: The Baldface Loop is probably the most awesome hike in the Whites! And on a tailor made October day it could not have been better. If you have not done this loop, or think that because it's not a four thousand footer it's not worthy of a hike, think again. 360 degree views from two summits, four miles of open ridge walking, a calorie burning cliff to ascend, and a surprise view at every turn. I have rarely felt for satisfied from a hike.
