Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: We were very happy to find the gate on South Pond Rd open at 8 am, saving us the 1.1 mile road walk. The gate at the fish hatchery was still open at 6:45 pm when I retrieved my car. There were still three other cars the the York Pond TH.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Snow/Ice - Small Patches
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All were easy rock hops.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Overall the trails were in good shape with the exception of the Cabot Spring Spur which is more like a bushwhack along a herd path. There is one large blowdown just south of Mt Cabot. It was there in July and now a worn path has formed around it. It may be there to stay. The newer bog bridges were above the water at Kilback Pond keeping our feet dry.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: It was a relatively easy hike for Marlie, lots of water and mud along the way. The cooler temps made it better for her as well. We saw Kibo just below the summit of Cabot and a corgi at the summit of The Horn.
Bugs
Bugs: None.

Comments
Comments: It was a nice cool day with temps never getting much above the mid 40s and hovering just above freezing on the higher summits. Very cool seeing frosty trees up high and fall colors in the valley. Rogers ledge has awesome views and would be worth checking out by itself. Devil's Hopyard was interesting but a bit of a disappointment as it ended abruptly with a "End of Trail" sign. We continued up a little furter but despite hearing water, we never found the cascade that the WMG mentions. It's very sketch going off trail as there are moss covered boulders with hidden holes between.
