Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Buttress Trail was very hard on the dog. She is very experienced and has done most of the major trails in this state and it seemed to me she worked very hard on this one. I would not bring her up it again. I didn't have to help at any point but there was a lot of jumping and scrambling that were tough. Factor in the sun and her pack ( we were camping ) and it made for a tough day. Last water was about half way up Buttress, small enough to fill a bottle and wet her back down.
Bugs
Bugs: Some flies and black flies were annoying at a few different areas, not bad enough to put the bug dope on but some were biting on night 2.

Comments
Comments: Love hiking anywhere out in the Great Gulf, very wild and rugged and not many people. Talked to two guys at one of the back country sites and they reported a cow moose with her baby had made a couple of visits to there site and at one point was only 3-5 yards away and didn't seem to mind at all.
