Comments
Comments: Revisited Vose Spur with a few people working on their NEHH lists. Nothing fancy on this trip, we did the usual route to the "big boulder" in the notch, and started up about 100 feet past where the birch logs on the ground show the way. Followed the drainage uphill until it petered out, then just stuck roughly to our bearing through generally open woods until we hit the sub-ridge around 2700'. From there we had a herd path most of the way to the summit. Blowdowns obscure it here and there, but continue on to the other side and pick it up again. I forgot how insanely steep that herd path is above the talus field, however brief. Same route back, though we tried to follow the herd path off the sub-ridge. We lost that almost immediately, so we just headed downhill, using Lowell across the notch as a visual. Ended up in the drainage a few hundred feet above the Carrigain Notch Trail, so came right out at the same spot we went in. Nice and straight-forward.

We had a little bit of a frozen rain/mini-airsoft-pellet squall as we hit the talus field on the ascent. It cleared a few minutes later and we had nice views down into the Sawyer River Valley. Color is roughly at peak in there, tons of orange, simply beautiful. Thanks to whoever brought up the new log this summer, and the pencils. Everything is in good shape up there.
