| Water Crossing Notes: |
A few, rock-hoppable, enough to slow you down to figure out the best crossing spot. Heavy rain yesterday made for a wet trail... |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
A small blow-down past Shingle Pond and shortly after crossing to the north side of Middle Brook (3.5-4.0 miles in). North of this area the trail becomes nearly obscured by sappling and brush growth. Did not see sign at open boggy area (4.2 mile). |

| Comments: |
If this is your first time on this trail, make sure you have the trail notes from the White Mountain Guide. The trail is difficult to follow, especially as it crosses an open field. Lack of use, which can be a good if you want solitude, makes the trail hard to distinguish. Highlights include a beautiful mature hemlock forest, lots of large trees along the trail, a boggy pond, a beautiful mature spruce forest at higher elevations, picturesque Middle Brook, a soft and less rocky and rooty trail to the summit as compared to the Mt. Kearsarge North Trail. |
