Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: from rt. 3 in stratford we drove in bog road to bourdeau road to cloutier road to the road into bog pond which leaves on the left a bit past "amandas meth lab". this road used to be gated, but no longer is. no signs against driving in. the road in is pretty rough as it heads up hill and on the flat stretch in to and around the pond it has some deep water filled ruts. higher clearance is pretty much necessary at this point. we parked past the pond in a grassy area where the snowmobile trail takes off to the right.

Comments
Comments: we followed the snowmobile trail for a bit on a short descent and as it turned back uphill we bushwhacked up a small brook heading up the drainage for the col between the two goback savage peaks. woods were open young hardwoods. heading up to the western peak from near the col there was some steep climbing/scrambling on moss covered rocks. a trace of snow up high. some scrappy spruce/fir. the grade mellowed along the large plateau up to the recognized highpoint. heading back to the col we stayed north of the steepest going then found mostly good woods up to the east peak the highpoint of which is more towards the eastern end of the high contour. an initial attempt to descend due south led to thick going so we turned more back to the west to again find good woods in the drainage running down between the peaks. somewhere around roughly 1800' we picked up a logging road, which we had noted leaving the snowmobile trail earlier in the hike, and followed it back down. very nice bushwhack overall with decent woods and nice if limited views at various point. the bog pond has to be one of the prettiest places in the state.
