Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Cars parked up both sides of 93---oops it's November mid week; plenty of parking all day.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Ice - Black, Snow - Trace/Minimal Depth, Ice - Blue
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Water levels low enough this morning so that one could avoid any ice covered rocks with some thought.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One blowdown on Falling Waters Tr. about 1 mile from parking that will probably be routed around this winter unless removed. 1 cut would easily knock out a 3-4 foot piece that could be discarded to side of trail. If I'd brought folding saw I would've taken it out. Few other non issue blowdowns.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Saw 3 or 4 on Lafayette today. Only water that I recall between brooks lower down today was a small spot near the Shining Rock Spur.

Comments
Comments: Falling Waters Tr. was not as icy as I figured it would be. A small amount easily dealt with near the upper brook crossings. Other than that there was one nasty section near the top which was bare bootable going up with care. There was a lot of hard packed slippery snow however. If I were going down that side today I would've wanted traction until hitting the crossings. Going across the ridge was fine with mostly dry trail. I put spikes on about 1\2 way down to Greenleaf Hut. Glad I did as there was much ice a half mile either side of the hut. Lower sections on both sides nicely dry. Great to run into several familiar faces on Lafayette who had hiked up the Skook with their weekly hiking group.
