Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Trail leaves from a bend on the road between two condos in the Clearbrook resort. 6 good visitor parking sites nearby - no one had issues with us parking there.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Leaves - Significant/Slippery
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: A few crossings of Clear Brook and it's tributaries. None too difficult.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Old Osseo trail freshly blazed in yellow to the summit - well marked and recently cleared of blowdowns. Several side trails branch off early on, but are marked with red blazes so are easy to avoid. Trail is well defined all the way to the summit. Muddy near the base, slippery leaves further up but otherwise no problems with traction.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Easy enough for one little dog in our group.

Comments
Comments: Great hike though the weather never turned decent as forecasted. Trail was in better shape than some official trails - certainly not the blowdown-strewn bushwhack I was expecting. From the flat clearing on the summit of Whaleback the trail continued onward to Flume - we opted to head back due to the cloudy weather. Not one spot of snow on the entire trail, even at 3600 feet. A few nice viewpoints just below the summit with views out south over Lincoln and another looking more easterly.
