Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: rock hops
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Very few mud spots, no blowdowns, some mud and water on Scar. Overall these trails are in great shape.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: The mighty tough little dog had to work some but he had a grand time and got lots of compliments for being buff. I gave him a bunch of boosts and lifts over big boulders or holes on King Ravine which he would have liked to have avoided, but it was safer and lessened paw wear and tear. The upper part of the trail's rocks have sharp crystalline structure which could be tough on paw pads. Scar and Fallsway had wonderful soft path surfaces. Fallsway great for sippin' & dippin'. Sun often blocked today so no heat or water issues, but up high its BYOB. Met 2 other dogs.
Bugs
Bugs: None.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: 1 light purple Canoe Club/Hanover ball cap. The wind blew my hat over boulders on Airline and when I chased it down it was next to this hat. I have it here at home but can take it to work in Lyme for pickup.

Comments
Comments: This was supposed to be the usual great views mixed with lazy summer snacks on the peaks, but it was very windy up on top, and on Adams we were mostly in clouds. We ate by the hut which is undergoing extensive uglification. The highlights were the fun scramble with Pepper on King Ravine, Pepper's Fallsway series of sips and dips and talking with 4 nice hikers who had done Great Gully: Pete & Dave, and a father/daughter team who were fellow Univ. of Michigan grads. Appalachia provides a smorgasboard of trails of all types and we enjoyed each varied course immensely.
