Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The only one of note is the usually dry brook right after the wilderness boundary. It requires getting boots a little wet. All other crossings are easy.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Several step over blow downs on DP, but nothing major. Lots of running and standing water on DP between Crawford and MPT. Also some mud pits in that stretch. Soggy between the Resolution main peak ledges and the south peak side trail. That trail starts clear, but gets overgrown. It's very short, only 0.1 mi. The MPT across the Resolution ledges takes some care to follow. There are lots of little paths up there. MPT is very eroded climbing up to Resolution. Also some erosion higher up on DP.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Sure! Saw one on Crawford who was enjoying the warm weather.
Bugs
Bugs: Nope, but saw some trees starting to bud! They are so confused.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Found a bandana on DP during the descent. I left it at the trailhead on the sign.

Comments
Comments: A very warm day in the Whites during winter. Felt more like May! 45 degrees when I arrived at the trailhead, 51 when I returned.

Getting back into my 52WAVs, this was #48. Resolution is very nice, but the south peak is even better. Totally open summit with 360 degree views. I hung out there for a while. No ice anywhere, but plenty of water on the trails that could be problematic when the temps drop. The big sloping ledge on Resolution is wet, so use care there. Most ledges are dry. After doubling back over the main peak, I dropped down the old trail to the former Resolution Shelter to check it out. Crawford wasn't originally in my plan today, but I was making good time and since I was walking right by, I made the short side trip. This was my third time there and it's great as always. I love the views looking back at Stairs and Resolution.

It was weird not seeing snow anywhere on Christmas Day, not even on the Prezzies!
