Comments
Comments: i had hoped to get Eisnehower as well, but when i got to Pierce and from what i could tell, i was the first that day, (though there were many more right behind me), everything was the same shade of winter whit/grey. i wasn't comfortable continuing on solo to Eisenhower, when everything looked the same and i couldn't see Ike's summit or discern the trail very well. i opted for plan B, and descended webster cliff trail (redline for me) to hut, checked out the tent sites, and continued down the mizpah cut-off back to crawford path. crawford path was well-packed down at this point, no need for snowshoes at all, in the 2-3 inches of snow, but micros were necessary. redlined to crawford cliff, which is only .4mi, but man you work for it. had the view all to myself. sat in the sun for a bit and ate lunch. was back to the car by 1pm, drove over to HiC and picked off Around the Lake and Red Bench. redlining is a disorder. lots and lots of folks out, but i guessed i timed my trip just right, because i was pretty much in solitude the entire day. the parking down by the depot was filled and cars were parked on the side of the road.
