Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All crossings were open and required crossing on snow and ice covered rocks. The ice that was present wasn't bearing weight so make sure and step on the rocks. At the large crossing of Nancy Brook the easiest crossing is about 20 yards up from the trail - follow the tracks

Comments
Comments: Fresh powder on the trails today - couple of inches down low to 4-6 inches up higher. Snowshoes or boots would work - we wore light traction as an aid at the stream crossings - One track from before the last snow storm. Trail is now fairly well broken out. Hadn't been on the trail since they put in the relocated section - followed the relocation though the prior person headed down the old trail - when you come to a pile of wood while paralleling Nancy Brook (about 2 miles in) - relocation heads up the hill behind you - just follow the blazes - nice set of switchbacks up the hill - rejoins the old trail after a couple of tenths of a mile. Falls were solidly frozen with a small opening with running water at the bottom. Decided to follow the prior person's track back down the old trail which was a mistake! - A 50 yard section slid down the slope requiring crossing a seriously steep sidehill - given unconsolidated snow and loose dirt on the slope we opted to backtrack a bit, drop down and bushwack alongside Nancy Brook which was a fun mix of boulder hopping, trees, deep snow and ice - found a line back up to the trailbed past the slide and made our way without any more fun sidetrips.
