 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Lower portions of trails had been recently mowed; middle had many of the small krumholtzy trees wacked mixed in with sections of ferns and moss on ledge; upper back to mowed. Bucket has been up on the upper trail and tracks dug in to trail. |

 | Dog-Related Notes: |
Very easy and fun time for the mighty tough little dog. Brook early on for water but after that its BYOB. Much of trail up provided shade in the early morning and with crisp temps the little black dog didn't heat up despite a good pace. Where the Taft trail meets up with Chairlift they've torn down a structure, so I kept Pepper away in case there were nails or glass, although I didn't see any. |

Thanks to Silverfox for providing encouragement and directions. I had printed out a Google Earth view from the north which made it easy to track my route, and now I see the Cannon Ski Map would do the same. I think one could use just about any Cannon Family Ski area trail to get to the top of that lift, then a little ways up take an umarked route to the right (sharp rise to start then easy slope) to get to Taft trail lower sections, which is how we came down. What a great day and way to hike Cannon; easy, great views, solitude (perhaps the busiest weekend of the year and we didn't see anyone), comfy temps and plenty of space for Pepper to roam about. As we finished our boogie down Deer Run, I felt like turning around and doing the hike again; but relatives are in town. |
