I started in light traction. I used Old Summer Club and the unamed trail on the AMC map to get to the junction of Bald Mtn. Notch trail and Rowell link. From the junction I began to follow a flagged road, which did not last long. Woods were initially good for bushwhacking. I went to snowshoes about 1/2 mi into the bushwhack. Eventually it got steep and thick in places. I found one great view ledge on the way up. After pushing through some tight woods, I followed open glades to the highpoint of west. From there, I took a fairly straight line to towards the middle peak. There is a fair amount of snow on the ridge, which made some slight trailbreaking challenges. I encountered two moose in the col. After a little thick going, I took open woods up the the highpoint on middle. I followed my tracks back, until the very end of the bushwhack, when I cut a little further east. |
