I wore microspikes for the ascent to Jackson on the Webster-Jackson Trail, as did most others on the trail. Switched to snowshoes for the final 1/4 mile for the heel lifts. The final 50 meters to Jackson are very icy and a bit tricky; crampons would be best here, and there are just enough branches to grab onto for support. Loose powder on the Webster Cliff Trail (6-12 inches) made for great snowshoeing. Kept the snowshoes on for the entire descent from Webster. My wife wore one-inch crampons for the entire hike, and she had no issues. |
