 | Parking/Access Road Notes: |
The four-mile ride on Pond of Safety Road was the hardest part of the trip. Very rocky and rough. Little signage, making it confusing at intersections with snomo trails. Parking in the grassy shoulder near the trail head. (Must have a car / truck with reasonable clearance.) |
 | Surface Conditions: |
Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable |
 | Recommended Equipment: |
 | Water Crossing Notes: |
Numerous small brook or seep crossings, all with bog bridges or rocks. |
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
For a low-use area, the trail had no blowdowns and is well-maintained. |
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
On the lower / northern slopes, there were numerous water seeps and brooks for "Skipper." We carried some water for him as the trail was dry up along the ridge. |
 | Bugs: |
Annoying flies at the overlooks... but not biting. |

 | Comments: |
It was interesting reading about the history of the area and the story of "Pond of Safety"... then hiking the trails.
After today's journey, we can see why most people approach the peaks from the south - but no regrets about our approach from the north.
Complete circuit, (over to Crescent, then south to Randolph and out) about 8.5+ miles. |
