Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: The main reason for posting this report: large (~16-inch diameter) softwood blowdown on Pond Loop, at southern end about 50 yards were it connects to the Orange Trail, on sideslope ledge. Blowdown can be stepped over, but some of it forces short re-route.

Comments
Comments: Trails are in better shape than we anticipated, given the recent ups and downs with temperatures, the rain, etc. Nice hardpack and ice for almost the entire way, with a few short bare sections and then a few sections of crust on frozen snow -- meant we could keep light traction on and move quickly without having to pick our way over rocks, etc. Some fine sections of blue ice, too -- always a treat.

Goose Pond (completely frozen) and Newfound Lake (mostly frozen) looked like glass with the bare ice and excellent reflection of yesterday's bright blue sky.
