| Comments: |
The trail remains a consistent wide ribbon of mostly hard ice through the sparsely snow-covered woods until just below Starr King, thence shallow, packed snow to Waumbek with a couple of minor drifts. The ice softened just enough in the afternoon to ease the tediousness of our descent. Spikes were adequate but we cluck-clucked in the woods around the worst ice around the spring.
Several parties turned around at the summit of Waumbek and missed the superb outlook 100' beyond. Great south-facing lunch spot! |
