Comments
Comments: A great day with perfect winter hiking conditions and amazing views - timed it perfectly to have sunny skies at both summits. Easy hiking on the trails with hard surface down low with increasing packed powder as you increased in elevation. Some ice down low that can be avoided, one small patch at the spring that you'll need to cross, just beyond this there is a stretch of about 100 yards that is solid ice, most opted to go above the trail and a path has developed that you can use to avoid this stretch, above this nice just nice packed powder to Starr King and across to Waumbek. Light traction is definitely useful.

Glad to get out in these conditions as who knows what the warmer temps will bring.

Lots of people out today on the trail, nice views from Starr King and the viewpoint just past Waumbek's summit.
