Wore microspikes all day , trail was manageable in light traction. Could of used a more aggresive Hilllsound spike for beginning of trail; as there were alot of ice bulges and on the descent the bulges were covered with fresh snow. Carriage Road was packed out nice with a few drifts ,could use snow shoes if one preferred. Ice and rock with a few deep drifts up to the summit. Winds picked up on the summit , very low visibility with sleet/ snow. Goggles, mask and wind coat on for a gnarly peak today, SW wind worked in my favor to summit but the descent was tough with gusts and poor visibility, the Cairns are large so getting back to the shrub was not a problem. White out conditions but felt the trail with me feet :) On the descent very little wind and lightly falling snow ----pretty! Saw no one all day. |
