Comments
Comments: We started out at 8:00 with our Hillsounds on. We maybe got 1 mile in and we were slipping alot on the ice. There was a new layer of snow on top of the ice, maybe an inch. We just couldn't get good traction and decided that it was going to be dangerous coming down and we didn't know what lay ahead. We figured this would be an extremely slow hike due to conditions and decided to turn back. Our Hillsounds usually never disappoint us. On the way down, which was slow, with lots of tree hugging, the snow was balling up badly on our Hillsounds. Every 3-5 steps we had to kick off the snow. We decided to just walk the AT for awhile since it continues right from the parking lot. We had no problem with that and did a few miles until hitting a stream crossing that wasn't safe. So still a good day on the trail.
