Went up the steep, crowded White Dot Trail. Quite wet and slick in spots, but almost no ice. Once at the top, I spent a 1/2 hour or so chatting with fellow hikers and taking in the view, then I decided to take an alternate route down. Took the Pumpelly, Red Spot, and Cascade Link trails back to WD. Pumpelly was mostly dry, but Red Spot was wet with a nasty ice flow down one of the steep sections. Barebooted with care. Cascade Link was wet but not steep. Easy cruise from the end of that trail back to the car.
This was my 10th time hiking Monadnock and my quickest ascent of it- 54 minutes bottom to top. Can't wait to come back in a couple weeks with my crew! |
