the ground was at least partially frozen in the morning. a few signs to direct you at start of trail also some brush that has been laid down, but not picked up. i followed the trail on a continuous grind of a climb up to between 1500-1600 and took a line on the summit. woods were open all the way with moderate grades. hardwood to start with evergreen higher up. some limited views back to mt. washington in the open woods. in the shaded woods higher up there are still some patches of crusty snow and ice of minimal consequence. highpoint is recognized. some looks to black mountain from around the summit area. followed roughly the same route back out. |
