Comments: I bring Easter greetings To Zach Porter and Ozzy the Man (no dog, no wife) last there 1/23/16.

Where FR593 comes to the small stream I followed an older road up the stream for a ways. There was some snow and ice in the road and the going was nothing to write home about. So I crossed the stream and climbed the rib that extends SouthWest from So. Hitchcock. That was the first good decision I made today because the brush was no worse than along the brook and after a short thick patch I came to a small rock outcropping with a very nice almost unobstructed view off to the Osceolas and Scar Ridge. Who says there are no views on the Hitchcocks? Steep, however. I came on the ridge just a little on the North side of South Hitchcock. I have nothing to add about the traverse from So. Hitchcock to Hitchcock. I started the descent headed back to South when I noticed that the woods off the ridge to my right were no worse than on the ridge. So I went down the very steep fall-line almost due South into the bowl to the Southwest. The second good decision I made today. There were no ledge bands - surprising given how steep it is. When it started to become less steep the bottom of the ravine was far and away the best walking all day. For at least 1/4 mile no trees, no brush, no cripple brush, firm snow, just innumerable little piles left by moose. I knew I needed to slab around to the East to get back to FR593 so when I came to a barricade that Irene erected in the gully I started the slab. I had not gone far when I walked onto the continuation of FR593. If only I could claim the last was good route finding skills!
