I bring greetings to Zach Porter (no Ozzy the Man) from the summits of the Huntingtons; Zach was the last one there on 1/9/16.
My plan was to ascend So. Huntington first, then walk the ridge to Huntington, then continue on West a ways then drop down to the top of the ledges for what must be a spectacular view. Due to errant route finding, however, I got to the ridge near the summit of Huntington. That nixed that plan.
After roughly 200 yds of matchsticks from the Kanc. the woods open up nicely for maybe 1/4 mile on the East bank of the brook. And the stretch from Huntington down to the col has mostly low scrub under a high canopy. Otherwise than that it's 3 miles of brush and twigs. I did not encounter any blowdown walls. If I go back, and I probably will, and things have melted, the brook looks like one long, nice slab. I might need rocks spikes to help with the slippery moss. |
