| Comments: |
We started out with a dusting of snow over wet leaves and frozen mud and dirt in the morning, both of which had melted by the afternoon. After a mile and a half or so the ice starts. It is quite thick for the most part. We wore crampons from then on and were glad to have them, although we did see others in microspikes that seemed to be handling them ok. Some people in my group were scared even in crampons descending the steeps just after leaving the Carriage Road. A light coating of snow did provide some extra traction and had drifted a bit up top. A beautiful day! |
