Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The crossing of Sucker Brook is nasty and icy. On the way out I was able to walk upstream to a spot where I could hop most of the way across and then make a big jump the rest of the way. From there, I took a left turn on a logging road and followed that to the trail. On the way back, I bushwhacked from the big right turn at the 2100' contour to the Three Ponds Trail on my side of the river which then crosses the brook on a big snowmobile bridge. Much easier.

Comments
Comments: Three Ponds Trail is very muddy.

On the Carr Mountain Trail, ice begins for real around 2400' and continues all the way to the summit, with a few short breaks. There are a couple significant ice patches. Microspikes worked fine on the way up, but crampons were a much better choice for the descent
